YOUR POSITIVE NEWS BOARD
![]() |
The Positive News Board, featuring PNYV!'s Print Editions, is a unique and bright solution for informally introducing Sustainability Learning in schools.
A Positive News Board makes the best of the world's sustainability movement available to the entire school community, including students, teachers and parents.
PNYV!'s bi-weekly Global Edition features good practice projects, inspiring portraits, pacemaking organisations and young changemaker communities. It provides insights to useful resources and tools ranging from action guides to online courses, distance training and online conferencing solutions.
Expand it to gather and display Local Positive News!
This space is a unique solution to stimulate outstanding activities and amplify relevant citizenship participation on local level. This is why we call it an Informal Sustainability Learning Environment, or ISLE.
Positive News Boards makes the world of positive changemaking available to all, at a glance, every day, at minimal cost and time. It only requires two square meters of wall space, a little printer ink, and just 15 minutes every two weeks.
Moreover, PNYV's Global Edition displayed on a Positive News Board provides an excellent backdrop for posting local content: reports on positive projects and activities, innovation and initiatives in the local community and home region as well as information on local organisations, youth projects and opportunities for positive engagement and volunteering. Putting the local dimension in global context amplifies awareness, inspiration, knowledge transfer, communication and practical networking with partners worldwide.
Will it inspire and appeal to everyone? No. Just like with any subject or discipline, it does not appeal to everyone, but it empowers those interested in positive change and inspires many yet unaware of the need and opportunities for positive change.
See this spontaneous response of a professional journalist from India, after she translated this article:
"Hey Eric, actually i'm totaly serious. I never knew that our planet was so much in danger. Thanks to that article, I'm cutting down my ecological footprints (using less electricity and I have just stopped eating fish in general, am slowly converting to vegetarianism). I believe I'm learning more and more from you're assignments. So thank you, for making me a citizen of the world - now if only i can convince my boss to letting me have days off during ALL religious and national celebrations throughout the year..."
Positive News Boards & Informal Sustainability Learning
The vision for Positive News Boards originated in the creative process of developing the ISLE concept for 'Informal Sustainability Learning Environments' by Eric Schneider (Germany) and Julia Morton-Marr (Canada). The ISLE concept is a contribution to Peace & Global Sustainability Education GSE in schools, youth environments and public spaces. It facilitates the introduction of sustainability learning in schools (United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005-2014).
Inspiration for Active Citizenship
The Positive News Board ISLE inspires and encourages youth participation and can easily evolve into a co-creative space for communication and collaboration. It also provides a space for enhancing and publishing classroom activities, nurturing collaboration between school classes and schools.
It is also a place for active citizenship! This co-creative environment gives birth to projects, it is a space for giving and sharing opinions in the form of surveys, studies and petitions. A stimulating space for learning and exercising meaningful participation in society!
A Creative Space for Various Outstanding Activities
Naturally, students will expand the Positive News Board's Global Edition with news on local initiatives and projects. This is the first step to applying the PNYV Lesson Plan, creating local Treasure Maps and launching Local Editions, even Radio & TV programs.
Using the downloadable Print Edition, it can be conveniently set up in just 15 minutes and updated every two weeks.
